Creating a Healthy Spine
At Wellspring, enhancing the alignment, strength and mobility of the spine is a benefit you will enjoy no matter what you are coming for. In Pilates, we visualize lengthening the spine and moving the vertebra one by one. In Gyrotonic®, we get the spine moving equally in every possible direction, increasing the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to the intervertebral discs and joint cartilage. In Myofascial Release, restrictions are released to improve functional mobility and correct postural faults. Physical therapy adapts all these methods and more in the rehabilitation of spinal pathologies.
Conditioning for the Performing Artist
Wellspring instructors understand first hand, the physical and mental rigors required of performing artists. We work with you to correct muscular imbalances, avoid repetitive stress and overcome technique problems. For those who are injured, we will devise a modified program for staying strong while you are healing. For others, we will provide a challenging conditioning program with a high degree of specificity and detail.
Anti-Aging
All of the methods we offer at Wellspring help you to feel more youthful and reduce many of the effects associated with aging. Resistance and strength training promotes the maintenance of adequate bone density levels necessary for good posture and decreasing the risk of fractures. Exercises that challenge balance and coordination have a positive effect on agility and righting reactions. Stretching, massage and Myofascial Release all promote good joint mobility, muscular elasticity and flexibility.
Post-surgical Rehabilitation
Whether you need a formal physical therapy program or just a safe work-out that takes your temporary limitations into consideration, Wellspring can help you get back to your old self again (and hopefully better than that!) During physical therapy, patients are introduced to the Pilates and Gyrotonic® systems, which can be continued with our experienced instructors after discharge. Likewise, you can receive Myofascial Release treatments to ease post-surgical pain and minimize the complications of scarring.
Pregnancy and Post-Partum Exercise and Bodywork
Wellspring practitioners work sensitively and effectively with women during this critical period to help them stay fit during their pregnancy and to regain their shape and abdominal strength as quickly as possible post-partum. For women who develop back pain, sciatica, or sacro-iliac dysfunction, myofascial release and massage therapy will relieve or resolve pain and discomfort.
